Sexual harassment remains a huge problem across the creative industries, where precarious work and extreme power imbalances, together with a lack of processes, combine to make a fertile environment for inappropriate workplace behaviours.
Bectu’s own research from May 2024 found that 9 in 10 creative industry workers have experienced or witnessed sexual harassment at work, and 1 in 5 have experienced a serious sexual assault.
Bectu is working with our partners and industry stakeholders to put in place the necessary building blocks to help stamp out this behaviour and we want to share our progress with you.
We welcome you to join us on Zoom for a webinar tomorrow, on Wednesday 27 November, from 6pm until 7:15pm.
Speakers:
Zelda Perkins, from Can’t Buy My Silence, will talk about a campaign to ban NDAs to cover up workplace bullying and harassment.
Jen Smith, from the Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA), will speak on progress setting up CIISA
Niyi Akeju, also from CIIS, will talk about the work that has been done to create pan-creative industries standards
Philippa Childs, Head of Bectu, will talk about Bectu (and Prospect’s) work to combat workplace sexual harassment.
We hope you will join this hugely important webinar on stamping out sexual harassment in our creative sector.
