Becoming a Member
We have over 1000 members who work in all areas, grades and genres within picture and sound editorial as freelancers and staff from Post Production Runners to award-winning Picture and Sound Editors.
Our union is run by our members, for our members and we are powered by being part of Bectu a sector of our parent union, Prospect. The more members we have, the stronger we are. A workplace with 90% membership is in a much stronger position to resist and team up against poor conditions than one with 60% membership.
Post Production Runners
Post Production Runners can join our membership at the discounted rate of £8 per month for the first two years. The discount will be applied manually after joining by listing your job title as Post Production Runner on the membership application.
New Industry Entrants
New Entrants can join our membership at the discounted rate of £5 per month for the first year. To qualify for the new entrant offer, you must either be in full-time education or within your first year working in the Industry. The discount will be applied manually after joining by adding “new entrant” to your job title on the membership application.

Our contracts, deal memos and terms are determined by the agreements that Bectu negotiates with Pact.
You can vote to accept or reject changes to the agreements as a member of Bectu or you can put yourself forward to represent our branch during the negotiations.

If we have enough members in one workplace, we will negotiate with the employer such as a Post Production Facility to get a better deal for everyone. The more members we have the stronger we are.
