We are offering a mentoring scheme to help you develop your career in post production or to skill up in your current role. Bectu has run successful mentoring programmes across multiple branches to support junior talent, and we are excited to introduce one for post production!
The details
Group mentoring allows us to share experiences and learn from one another within a supportive network. The scheme will include 3 sessions of group mentoring, networking opportunities and interactive sessions and will run from Spring to Summer. We are looking for both mentors and mentees to get involved. Please read on for more information and apply now if you are keen to take part!
Becoming a mentee
As a mentee, you will focus on your goals with your mentor and will have the chance to develop over several sessions. If you have been working in a junior role in post production for under 2 years, for example as a Runner or Trainee looking to take steps to become an Assistant Editor, Colourist, Editor or Dubbing Mixer, this scheme is for you.

Becoming a mentor
If you are in a mid-level/senior role and have been working in post production for over 3 years, we’d love to encourage you to get involved as a mentor. Mentors will work with small groups of mentees only when your schedule allows, rather than the commitment of regular one-to-ones. Mentors will receive training at a time to suit you, equipping you with the tools you need to confidently work with a group of mentees.

We are looking for people who would like to pass on their expertise and knowledge to dedicated and passionate individuals and people who share our vision of making the industry an inclusive, welcoming place to work, where freelancers are nurtured and encouraged to progress in our careers in what can often be a stressful industry.
We hope many of you will use this as an opportunity to network and share useful tips and experiences of working in busy, high-pressured roles.
Please let us know any accessibility needs and send any questions to Jade at Bectu who we are working with on this scheme: jade.gordon@prospect.org.uk.
We recommend applying now as applications will be reviewed as they are received. The scheme will close for applications at the end of March.
