RENDER Mentoring with the Edit Collective

We’re launching a mentoring programme with BECTU and Edit Collective for emerging editors looking to make a step up in their careers who come from minority ethnic groups. The intention of the programme is to connect these editors (and assistants) with mentors (who will be predominantly people of colour), and create a network to support and improve the diversity of editors working in the UK.

Applicants must have 1 year’s experience in the industry minimum and must (usually) be based in the UK.

We are also looking to hear from potential editor mentors with around 5 years+ experience who feel they have a genuine interest in improving diversity in our industry.

Application Form (for emerging editors who would like to be mentored)

Application Form (for established editors who would like to offer mentoring)

Please note we are currently only open to applications from people of colour to be mentored. Our mentors will be predominantly people of colour but we are open to everyone to apply to be a mentor.

HOW IT WORKS

Apply using the forms above. We’ll take into account your areas of interest and match you with mentors suited to you.

We'll organise a Zoom call where you’ll be able to meet with three established editors. This will take the form of three separate 20 minute chats. These calls will begin in September 2020.

After the call we’ll also invite you to a Facebook group where you can meet the other RENDER participants.

We recommend taking the following quick ScreenSkills mentoring courses to get the most out of your session:

Mentoring for Mentees

Mentoring for Mentors

We are also open to Assistant Editors. If you would like to be mentored please apply through the emerging editor form. If you are an experienced Assistant Editor we would also encourage you to apply to be a mentor to speak with junior Assistants. Feel free to fill in both forms!
